People search “agricultural shed cost” because they need a number before they phone. Here is an honest one: we do not have a filed library of last-job invoices on this website, and we will not invent them. What follows uses market bands a farmer already hears at the mart, taken at the conservative end and rounded so they do not look fake-precise.
Kit (frame and cladding, no erection, no concrete): think £40–£80 per square metre of footprint. Supply-and-erect, simple agricultural spec, Central Belt: think £80–£130 per square metre. Livestock spec, extra doors, awkward access and hill wind sit toward the top of the band or above it. Exposed sites cost steel, not adjectives.

Derived at about £40/m² kit and £80/m² erected on the footprints above, then rounded. 12 × 18 is 216 m². 15 × 24 is 360 m². 18 × 30 is 540 m². These are “from” numbers, not a catalogue.
What moves the number
Span and eaves move steel faster than length. An 18 m clear span with 7 m eaves is a different tonnage to a 12 m implement shed. Galvanising for livestock air costs more than a dry machinery coat. Yorkshire boarding, extra roller doors and a lean-to junction are real lines. A wagon that cannot turn in the yard is a real line. Snow on a Borders ridge is a real line.
Concrete is always extra because we do not pour it. If a quote elsewhere bundles a slab, you are talking to a different kind of contractor — or to someone who will still send a groundworks subcontract when the time comes. Ask.
Grants are not a discount code
FFIS does not fund sheds, roofs or concrete. Do not subtract a fantasy grant from the table. Crofting Agricultural Grant Scheme can fund buildings for eligible crofters; that decision is not ours. How to get a number that is actually a quote
Width, length, eaves, use, postcode, phone photo of the ground. Twenty-four hours. Kit or erected. Phone 0131 496 0777 if you want the number spoken. The 3D designer will show an engine estimate — treat that like this table, not like an invoice. Design your farm shed if you like playing with bays; send the photo anyway.

A worked example, still not a quote: 360 m² of machinery shed at the bottom of the kit band is about £14,400 before we rounded it to £15,000 on the table. The same footprint at the bottom of the erected band is about £28,800, rounded to £29,000. Add a second roller door, livestock galvanising, or a ridge that needs extra bracing and those “from” figures stop being useful — which is the point of the photo.
Lead time is not a cost line until galvanising or a colour holds the wagon. We would rather say “weeks” and then date the 24-hour quote than print a six-week promise that snow or a coating queue will break. Delivery to a UK postcode is in the kit number we actually send you; a Central Belt lift is in the erected number. Overnighting a crew to the Highlands is not in either column.
If a competitor’s page shows a single price per square metre with no foundation caveat, they are either pouring concrete or omitting it. Ask which. We omit it on purpose. Farm buildings Penicuik-made still need a slab someone else owns.
